Abstinence Program
The Sanilac County Health Department's SMART
(Students Making Abstinence a Reality Today)
Program began in January 2000. The mission
of the SMART team is to positively impact
the lives of youth and their families
through health promotion activities.
The SMART team is involved in activities to
promote abstinence from sexual activity to
youth and discourage any illegal use or
misuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
in the communities of our region. These
activities include:
After
School Clubs, In-School Programming, and
Summer Day Camps. Teen mentors are utilized
to assist with clubs and camps.
Services are provided
FREE
to students and their parents. For more
information, please contact: Lucinda
Smith-Health Education, 810-648-4098, ext.
