The Sanilac County Health Department (SCHD) is pleased to announce a new partnership with My Community Dental Centers Inc. (MCDC) to expand access to dental care. The new dental center located at 135 W. Sanilac Road, Sandusky, will be operated by MCDC on behalf of the health department. The center will provide quality dental care to all and welcomes children and adults enrolled in Medicaid, including Healthy Kids Dental, Healthy Michigan Plan and private dental insurance. The six-chair Sandusky center is scheduled to open on May 14, 2018.

The center will providecomprehensive dental services including oral exam/cleanings, fillings, tooth removal, partials, dentures, and other dental procedures. An initial exam with X-rays will be $39 for new patients. The organization is also pleased to offer My Dental Program (MyDP) for those without dental insurance, which provides reduced fees based on household income. A lack of access to dental care negatively affects the community’s health and well-being. When an oral health emergency strikes, those enrolled in Medicaid and the uninsured often head to the emergency room, not the dentist. “This new center will be a much needed asset in the community,” stated Bryant Wilke, Sanilac County Health Officer, “we look forward to partnering with MCDC and having this new resource available to Sanilac County and surrounding residents”. Established in 2006, MCDC is the largest non-profit 501(c)3 Dental Support Organization in the United States. Currently operating 36 dental centers statewide, with over 100,000 unique patients served in 2017. MCDC focuses on quality care that is customized for each patient and offered in a patient-centered atmosphere with exceptional customer service. The centers also utilize electronic patient records, digital radiography, and state-of-the-art dental equipment. MCDC looks forward to providing a dental home to residents of Sanilac County who have previously been unable to find a dentist. Studies show when your mouth is healthy, chances are your overall health is good as well. For more information or to register as a patient, please call 1-877-313-6232 or visit the MCDC website at www.mydental.org. Please watch for more information to include the Sanilac County Center opening date and hours.
